Earth Day, a day to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment, celebrates it's 40th anniversary on Thursday, April 22nd 2010 and the Belfast Co-op will be donating 1% of total sales that day to the Troy Howard Middle School Garden Project.

Also in celebration of Earth Day everyone is eligible for a 10% discount on grocery department items at the Belfast Coop with the word 'Earth', 'Planet' and 'Terra' in their product name. You will find Earth's Best Baby Products, Terra Chips, Planet Detergent and more.

Community Events in April for Earth Day
Earth Day Work Day at MOFGA
April 17th at MOFGA's Common Ground Education Center in Unity join MOFGA's landscaping committee as we prepare the gardens, grounds and orchards for the growing season. Activities start at 9 a.m. and projects include garden clean up, tree care and small carpentry projects. This is a great opportunity to meet other MOFGA supporters, to learn about organic landscape maintenance, and to get fresh air in your lungs and dirt under your nails! We'll provide a local, seasonal lunch and an organic cotton t-shirt for volunteers. The 16th Annual HOPE Festival & Green Expo is Saturday, April 24 from 11am-4pm in the gorgeous and 'green' new Fitness Center at University of Maine at Orono. Click here for more information.
